Ceramic Filter Elements

Caldo ceramic filter elements are made to the industry standard design: 1000mm long x 60mm o.d. x 40mm i.d. with an 80mm o.d. flange, 20mm deep. They are made from alumino-silicate fibres and a silica binder. The data sheet DS002, Ceramic Filter Elements, can be downloaded for more information .

Caldo ceramic elements are packed in boxes of 18. The elements are susceptible to damage in transit and this packaging has proved the best protection for the elements in many years of experience. We very much prefer to ship the elements in complete boxes but can supply individual elements in cardboard tubes if necessary. Our prices are:

Metal Reinforcing Collars

Ceramic elements do not break in use very often, but when they do it is normally at the top, just below the flange. Sometimes the breakage is caused by a lateral force on the barrel of the element but simple overtightening of the element clamping bolts can have the same result.

Caldo has developed a proprietary system of metal reinforcing collars and ceramic fibre gaskets to provide support to this part of the filter elements. The collars are made from carbon steel so can be used only up to 450 degC. The outer collar fits over the outside of the flanged end of the filter element and the inner collar fits inside and on top of the flanged end of the filter. Ceramic Fibre Gaskets

There are two sizes of ceramic fibre gaskets used in the reinforcing system for ceramic elements as shown in the schematic drawing on the right. The element gaskets fit between the flange of the filter element and the inside of the outer collar and they are 80mm o.d. x 63mm i.d. The header plate gasket fits between the outer spinning and the header plate and it is 90mm o.d. x 65mm i.d. Gasket prices are:
