Ammunition Incinerators

Caldo Engineering teamed with EODS, a UK company engaged in the destruction of weapons and ammunition, to apply 21st century technology to the destruction of small arms ammunition (SAA), pyrotechnics and other munitions.

The result has been the TRADS (Transportable Ammunition Destruction System) range of SAA incinerators. A novel approach to incinerator design has been coupled with Caldo pollution control technology to produce two models, a full-size version and a smaller batch unit, mini-TRADS.

Several examples were built and operated in the Balkans, Afghanistan and Australia. The video shows a full-size model operating at Camp Bastion.

Caldo Engineering

Caldo Consultants derives from Caldo Engineering and embodies the technical developments made by the earlier company.

Caldo Engineering produced equipment  for a range of duties comprising: standalone ceramic filters; complete pollution control systems that included ceramic filters; and speciality incinerators, especially for munitions, that also included ceramic filters.

This page is all about Caldo Engineering and the equipment that the company supplied

Ceramic Filters

Caldo hot gas filters are high temperature equipment items for the continuous removal of particulates from air or other hot gases. The equipment consists of ceramic filter elements installed in custom-built vessels fitted with proprietary mechanical parts.

The detail of the design of the filter vessel, the layout and sealing of the filter elements and the integration of the mechanical parts is critical to the achievement of a reliable and cost-effective hot gas filter. Caldo invested in 20 years of continuous design development based on CAD technology, manufacturing improvements and experience on-site.

Ceramic filter elements are at the heart of all ceramic filters and these photos show new and used elements in several installations

Ceramic filters are used in many different processes around the world and these photos show some of them.

Complete Pollution Control Systems

Regulated Emissions to Atmosphere

Waste gases are often hot and, if they contain fume or dust, Caldo hot gas filters can be used to remove these solids before the gases are released to atmosphere. However, such gases often also contain other pollutants; ceramic filtration can be combined with other techniques to ensure that all of the controlled substances stay within regulatory limits.

Typical waste gases can contain the following classes of pollutants:

With one or two minor exceptions all of these can be controlled / removed by equipment based around a hot gas filter. Caldo Engineering supplied equipment to control all of these emissions and now Caldo Consultants is ideally positioned to guide others with similar challenges.
